[SUBJECT: THE GIRL WHO DISAPPEARED FROM THE COMMUTER TRAIN]

January 8, 2004. A user named Hasumi logged onto a Japanese textboard, posting in real-time.

She boarded her usual commuter train, but noticed it was running unusually fast and did not stop at any station.

After hours of traveling through an uncharted, pitch-black tunnel, the train finally came to a halt.

She stepped out onto the platform of a station that did not exist on any map: Kisaragi Station.

Mobile signals were unstable, batteries drained rapidly, and the surroundings were swallowed by an unnatural, silent fog.

Forum users tried to guide her to safety, but her messages grew increasingly frantic as she heard the sound of single-legged drums echoing in the distance.

Her very last transmission stated she was walking into the tunnel to find a way back. She was never heard from again.

Restoring archived logs of Hasumi's distress signal...

[ARCHIVED_TRANSCRIPT: HASUMI'S CHRONICLE]

> "The train has been running for almost an hour. It usually takes twenty minutes. It's not stopping anywhere. I'm scared."

> "It finally stopped at Kisaragi Station. There is absolutely no one around. No staff, no other passengers. I feel a terrible draft."

> "I tried to leave the station, but the ticket gate is locked. I walked out into the countryside, but everything is empty. The neon signs are humming, but there are no people."

> "I can hear a bell tolling, and... a rhythmic beating sound. Like a drum. 'Don-don, don-don'. It's coming closer from the tunnel."

> "A man with one leg approached me out of the fog. He looked unnatural, shifting in and out of view."

> "I managed to reach the tunnel entrance. It's completely dark, but I have no choice. I'm going in. If I don't reply, please assume I made it out somewhere else... or nowhere at all."
